Fitbit Introduces the FitBit Force Fitness-Tracking Smartwatch

The smartwatch race has been heating up and the newest contender, the Fitbit Force, is really bringing the “race” part of it. The new fitness accessory from Fitbit slaps on your wrist and tracks your fitness info while also offering the functionality of a basic smartwatch… sort of.

The bracelet features a small OLED screen so you can easily check the time or a number of fitness stats, including steps taken, distance traveled, calories burned, stairs climbed, and even hours slept. There’s a lot of useful information packed into this thing. If you want a bigger display, you can also view the stats on a mobile device, synced to the Fitbit Force via Bluetooth.

As for the smartwatch stuff, by syncing the Fitbit to your phone, you can see various phone information. When paired with an iOS 7 iPhone, you can see incoming calls. Android doesn’t have that feature yet, but I assume it’s on the way. There’s not much smartphone-ing here, but the Fitbit Force is meant to be a fitness tracker first and foremost.

Do you think Fitbit has what it takes to make a dent in the sales of the Nike+ Fuelband?
