Samsung Announces the Galaxy Round Smartphone with Curved Display Dylan Duarte October 9, 2013 Samsung today revealed the Galaxy Round, their newest smartphone and the first (according to them) to feature a curved display. Unlike earlier Samsung smartphones that featured a piece of curved glass on top of a flat display, with the Galaxy Round the curve is in the display screen itself. This might not seem like a necessary innovation, but I’m curious to see what benefits the curved shape will hold. It might feel a bit more ergonomic, and as Time points out, if you drop the phone display-down, the impact might not be as bad as that of a flat phone. The display is 5.7-inch, OLED 1080p, and you can expect a 2.3GHz quad-core processor, 3GB RAM, and a 13MP camera. Tilting the phone to the side will bring up notifications, as seen in the video below. The Galaxy Round will be available in Korea first. There’s no word yet on a North America release, so if you just can’t wait for a curved smartphone, you’ll have to sit on an iPhone 5S. Share This With The World!
