One of the concerns that I had about the LG Optimus G smartphone was the battery life. It just didn’t last long enough and it’s certainly not the only smartphone to suffer from that fate. That’s why there is an increasingly large variety of portable backup batteries to help extend your day-to-day life with your mobile devices.

One of the newest is the FatCat mPower Travel Charger Series. The idea here is that you get a pocket-sized travel charger that can be used to charge your iPhone, smartphone, iPad, camera or whatever else. You can stash the whole thing in your pocket, purse or bag and be sure that you’ll have enough juice for another session of Angry Birds Star Wars. We’ve seen other portable batteries from companies like Arctic Power and Choiix, so it will be interesting to see how the FatCat mPower series stacks up.

There are currently three products in the series. The smallest of the bunch is the $49.95 ChargeCard with 2000mAh of juice. Next up is the $69.95 PowerBar 4200 with 4200mAh and then we have the $119.95 PowerBar 9600 with 9600mAh of power. Shown here is the PowerBar 4200 in its range of five colors and we should be getting one here in the MEGATechNews labs for testing soon. Stay tuned for the full review, but here’s the press release in the meantime.
