And so the annual renewal cycle for smartphones is underway once again, this time turning our attention to our Taiwanese friends at HTC. The company has certainly seen some brighter days in its storied past, but with rumors that it could be responsible for two Google Nexus smartphones later this year, this could be turning around. Before that happens, though, we expect to be introduced to the HTC One M10 in a little over the month.

Even though we got our first official glimpse at the HTC One M9 at MWC 2015 last year, it looks like HTC is going to reveal the HTC One M10 at its own independent event following the show instead. Codenamed “Perfume,” the HTC One M10 will reportedly also ship in at least two different variants.

One version of the phone will get the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, getting shipped to the North American and European markets. For customers in China and Southeast Asia, the HTC One M10 will get powered by a MediaTek SoC instead. At least that’s what the current rumblings on the online streets are indicating. In either case, you can expect to see Android 6.0.1 with HTC Sense 8.0 as the UI skin. The design choices could also provide a preview of the upcoming HTC-made Nexus phones too.
