The KeyBiner Kills Two Birds With One Stone

Sometimes I run across a gadget that is so simple, yet so brilliant, that I cannot believe no one (including myself) has ever thought of it before. This is one of those times. I’ve been carrying my keys on a carabiner hung from my belt or bag strap for over 20 years, because it makes them easy to access and hard to lose. But the problem is they get caught on stuff sometimes, which either brings me to an abrupt halt while walking or has on occasion sent a key or the whole ring flying off into space. Also, in my job I often cannot wear my keys because they make too much noise when they knock together as I walk.

KeyBiner is the solution to a problem that should have been created decades ago. It’s a carabiner, but also a key ring… without keys that dangle to get caught. Instead, up to 14 different keys fit within the frame of the carabiner itself, and flip out like the blades of a knife when you need to use them. If that was all it did, it would be plenty, but there’s more. Also included in the KeyBiner are a file, screwdrivers, wrenches, and knives. Which means you couldn’t fly with it, but it would be infinitely useful for my everyday life.

KeyBiner is currently seeking funding on Kickstarter, and I can’t be the only one smacking myself on the forehead for not thinking of it. With just under three weeks to go, they’ve already exceeded their funding goal by almost $135,000.00 US. No, I did not make a mistake and add too many zeros. I think it’s safe to say this is a done deal. But you can still get in on it! A pledge of at least $35.00 US will get you your very own aluminum KeyBiner, with delivery expected in June. They’re also available in copper or titanium for a higher pledge, or you can order a set of all three types. There’s even an option to add a 32GB flash drive!
