Get Morning Moving with the Mimicker Alarm Beth Snyder March 17, 2016 Extras At my age, I have come to accept that I am never going to be able to get out of bed early without setting multiple alarms after I drink a huge glass of water before I go to bed. Morning, in my world, is a four-letter word of the worst variety. Consequently, as I’m sure you’ve noticed over the years, I am on an endless quest to find the perfect alarm clock. Hasn’t happened yet. Mimicker Alarm looks like it’ll be worth a try, especially being that it’s free! You set your alarm like always (well, if you use your phone, which I do), and then when it goes off you have to complete a series of tasks in order to turn it off. These can be as simple as taking a selfie or as complicated as repeating a tongue twister without making a mistake. And just like your regular phone alarm, you can set more than one alarm, label them, and organize them. You do have the option of hitting snooze, but at some point you’re going to have to perform a task to make it stop. And if you take too long to complete whatever task you’re given, Mimicker Alarm will assume you’ve fallen back to sleep and will go off again. Also, since it’s not just one task but a series of them set up as a game, there’s no worry that you’ll simply snap a selfie and then go back to blissful slumber. The only drawback is Mimicker Alarm is only available for Android, and there’s no indication they’re developing it for other platforms. But it is free in the Google Play Store, and since I do have an Android phone I think I’m going to give it a try. Worst case scenario says all I have to do is delete it and go back to my regular alarms, labeled, “get up”, “no, really, get up”, and “GET OUT OF BED RIGHT NOW” with increasingly obnoxious tones attached.
