The rumor of a Final Fantasy VII remake goes all the way back to 2005, before the PlayStation 3 was even released. The much-beloved RPG has seen an enhanced remake, but that didn’t satisfy gamers’ desire to see Cloud Strife and his gang of cohorts remastered in glorious high-definition.

As of E3 2015, that remake is on the way. The Final Fantasy VII remake is coming to PlayStation 4 first, which suggests that it will be released on other platforms eventually. This actually won’t be the first time the game has been on the PS4. An upgraded port of the PC release hit the system last year.

Final Fantasy VII represents one of the largest gaps in my personal gaming history. It hit the PlayStation in 1997 and at that age I just wasn’t into that sort of game. Over the years I’ve desperately wanted to play it, but the game has not aged gracefully, in visuals nor in controls. Now I’ll finally get to see what all the hype is about and boy howdy does it look sweet.
