YouTube Launches Paid Channels Dylan Duarte May 9, 2013 On Tuesday we brought you news that YouTube may be launching paid channels as early as this week. That rumor proved to be true, as YouTube launched the feature today, with channels starting as low as $0.99 a month. The feature kicks off with a little over fifty channels available, all charging various prices. Clicking through what’s available, I noticed several channels at the $2.99 price point. The Laugh Factory VIP channel offers two subscription choices: $2.99 a month or $27.99 a year ($2.33/month). All channels come with 14-day trials. Paid channels are also free of advertising, which is a huge plus. I was fairly indifferent to this feature when it was being kicked around, but now that I see it in action, I’m actually a bit excited about it. There isn’t a lot of great content yet; even the movie channels only have a handful of movies. As the selection expands, however, I could easily see myself dropping three bucks for a month’s worth of movies. (Editor: Our YouTube Channel is still free. Give it sub!) via The Verge Share This With The World!
