Volkswagen to Recall 24K+ Cars in US Due to Fire Risk Dylan Duarte April 18, 2014 If you drive a 2014 Volkswagen Beetle, Beetle Convertible, Passat, or Jetta, your car might be brought in for a recall thanks to a faulty O-ring seal that could cause a fire. The seal in question lies between the transmission and the oil cooler and is responsible for leaking transmission fluid, which could potentially cause a fire if that fluid leaks onto a hot surface. No actual fires have been reported, thankfully, but a leaking model caught someone’s attention in mid-March, which is what led to the upcoming recall of 24,452 vehicles. Kudos to Volkswagen for being on top of things and addressing this flaw before it became a real issue. All of the recall models have the 1.8T engine and torque converter automatic transmission and will have the seals replaced. The Volkswagen recalls are said to begin this week and will only affect the United States, so keep an eye out for the recall notice if you suspect you may have an affected model. via Slashgear, Detroit News Share This With The World!
