Superdome Power Outage Reportedly Caused by Electrical Relay with Incorrect Settings Dylan Duarte February 9, 2013 Extras Despite Anonymous taking credit for the Super Bowl power outage, New Orleans power company Entegy has concluded that the fault actually lay with an electrical relay that was configured with incorrect settings. Apparently the device, which monitors electrical load, was set to trip far too low, so normal power usage caused it to cut the power. It certainly isn’t an exciting reason, but there you have it. A device that was intended to protect from power surges simply did its job way too early and cut half of the power to the Superdome. What about Anonymous? Did they simply see an opportunity to take credit and then claim it? Or are they actually behind it, and is the relay simply being blamed to save face? Scanning their Twitter feed, it doesn’t seem that Anonymous has responded to these latest findings. Either way, it wasn’t mechanical error. via The Verge Share This With The World!
