A Nintendo E3 press conference without a mention of Mario or Zelda would likely incite a riot, so they made sure to cover both of those bases with two new 3DS announcements, but we’re also getting a new Star Fox game for the Wii U.

With Mario, Nintendo is cleverly combining two popular series – Mario & Luigi and Paper Mario – into Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam, slated for release in spring of next year. It will play in the Mario & Luigi world, with the same mechanics, but Paper Mario will be playable as a third character and will open up different possibilities for combat and exploration.

It looks like Nintendo decided that four Links is a crowd, but three Links is good company. The Legend of Zelda: Tri-Force Heroes is bringing three-player co-op Zelda to the 3DS this fall. It’s played from a top-down perspective and one core mechanic has you stacking the players into a totem pole of sorts. There will also be a heavy focus on creating different outfits that give you special abilities. There will be online multiplayer as well as a single player option.

While Star Fox may not rank too high on the list of beloved Nintendo titles, it definitely has its dedicated fan base who will be thrilled to know that Star Fox Zero is coming to the Nintendo Wii U. It’s considered to be a reimagining of both the original Star Fox and Star Fox 64. The Wii U GamePad will act as a cockpit view while most of the action takes place on your television. You can fly three different vehicles, all of which transform into something else. The Arwing turns into a chicken mech!
