Ah, winter. A very pretty season, and one which contains many holidays to celebrate…but one that I abhor just the same. Being cold is the quickest and easiest way to make me completely miserable. Unfortunately, it is not always an option to huddle in my bed blocking out the fact that the entire world isn’t as warm as my little cocoon. Rather than layering on so many clothes it’s hard to move other than a waddle, maybe I should look into getting some outerwear that can actually help.

Maybe a heated jacket? That sounds like it could be a good option, doesn’t it? Four compact heating elements are embedded in the soft fleece lining of this jacket, which are powered by a removable battery pack. There are five different temperature settings (and the jacket is warm enough on its own for spring or fall days), so virtually any ambient temperature can be overcome with just a flick of a switch. Of course, the hotter you keep the temperature the shorter amount of time the battery will last (four hours only on the hottest setting), but if you aren’t as dedicated to keeping warm as I am that 13-hour mark shouldn’t be hard to achieve.

The jacket itself is hooded, with an outer shell constructed of durable nylon to repel rain and snow, while its lining is, as mentioned above, soft fleece. Between those two layers is 100 gm of polyfill insulation to keep you toasty. The battery is a 12-volt lithium ion, which recharges in 2 1/2 hours and tucks unobtrusively away in an interior pocket. There is an A/C adapter included for recharging. This one comes in black only, men’s sizes M, L, XL, and XXL. Price is $299.95 US.
