Just for the record, if someone were to buy me one of these for Christmas, I would not return it. This is one of the neatest things I’ve seen recently, providing it works as advertised… which coming from LG it should, but you never know until you get something in your hot little hands how good it actually will be. At any rate, I would love to try it out. I promise I’ll report back to you.

This new mouse from LG (currently available in the UK) not only works like ye olde regular mouse, but it features a Smart Scan button that will allow you to save in most popular formats (PNG, JPEG, TIFF, BMP, PDF, XLS and DOC) or drag and drop. All you have to do is hold the button down and swipe the mouse over whatever you want to scan, and you’re good to go. I think that’s just neat. I don’t know about you, but my scanner/printer was created by the devil. It prints just fine, but I apparently have not gone to nearly enough years of college (or perhaps I simply don’t possess the patience) to scan most things.

The LSM-100 also features LGs Optical Character Recognition technology, which converts scanned text into a Microsoft Word document. Interpret that as “I don’t have to retype things, thus cutting down on the time involved in doing something as well as greatly reducing the margin for error.” It also makes scanned documents editable, which is something I’ve been most wanting. The best part is that because you don’t have to put whatever you want to scan on a machine, the mouse can scan up to an A3 size page. Try doing that with the scanner sitting on your desk! Well, maybe you can. I can’t.

Unfortunately, there is no word yet on when this might be available anywhere other than the UK. But if you’re there, you can pick it up for just under $150.00 (I assume USD).
