ChiliPad Ends Nighttime Temperature Battles Beth Snyder June 22, 2011 Anything that can promote a better night’s sleep is worth almost any price if it actually works, at least to me. It’s probably good that I don’t live with someone and have to share a bed anymore, because temperature is a huge issue for me. The last time I lived with someone, we finally decided it would be better for all concerned if we just kept separate blankets and didn’t try to cuddle. I’m sure I’m not the only one, or they wouldn’t have come up with this neat little gizmo. The ChiliPad is a mattress cover that will both heat and cool each side of a bed using separate controls. Which means if you share a bed with someone who is perpetually cold while you are perpetually hot (my issue), he or she can crank up the heat while you chill it down. I’m not sure how that ends up feeling in the middle, but I would imagine it would be more livable than always fighting over how many blankets to use. You can set each side anywhere from 46F to 118F, so pretty much anyone should be able to find a comfort zone. It will also cut down on your heating and cooling bills, and give your thermostat some much-needed rest. What sells me on this even more, though, is thinking about when I’m sick. If you’re fortunate enough to not have to share your bed, or if you have a spouse who flees to the spare room or couch in case of illness, you can set one side to hot and one side to cool. Then, when your fever makes you alternate between chills and night sweats, all you have to do is roll to the other side to find blessed comfort again. Brilliance! The ChiliPad is available in Queen or King size, is UL safety tested, and fully machine washable. All this can be yours for $599.99 US. No one said comfort came cheaply!
