Cadillac ELR Coupe: The Next Volt-Based Hybrid Car Michael Kwan August 17, 2011 When the Chevrolet Volt was first revealed to the world, it was one sexy beast. Then, as it went through the development cycle, its appearance went several notches up the bland scale. It’s still a technological marvel, but it’s kinda boring to look at. Thankfully, GM isn’t done. The same Voltec platform underpinning the Chevy Volt will serve as the platform for the newly announced Cadillac ELR Coupe. This sporty number does everything the Volt does, marrying a regular 1.4L gas engine to an electric motor. The difference is that it’s geared much more toward performance. Details are scarce, but you can be sure that this coupe will be a beefier number than the Honda CR-Z sport hybrid. The photo above is from a 2009 concept, so what the final production vehicle will look like is anyone’s guess. Source: TC Share This With The World!
