Dual SIM Support Coming to iPhone, Leak Suggests Dylan Duarte September 11, 2018 News A SIM card isn’t cool. You know what’s cool? Two SIM cards. Leaks are rarely this fun. Rumor has it that the new iPhone models that Apple is set to announce on Wednesday will support dual SIM cards, and that rumor comes in the form of an illustration of an apple with two SIM cards sticking out of it. And there’s someone who looks like a Power Ranger sitting on top. There’s also an ad from China Telecom that flat out reads “New iPhone coming soon, dual SIM support,” so we’re not just reading images here. Dual SIM support has been around forever as a convenient way to travel abroad without the hassle of swapping cards and trying not to lose them, but this would be a first for Apple. Considering that the leaks come from sources in China, it’s a safe bet that the dual SIM support is designed for the Chinese market, where Apple is lagging behind Huawei, Oppo, and others. That doesn’t mean that the feature won’t come to other markets, but it’s a good idea to be prepared for the possibility. Does this matter to you? Generally speaking, consumers decide in advance if they’re getting the new iPhone or not, but this effectively makes the iPhone a viable traveling phone, so I can see this reigning in new Apple customers.
