Yahoo Hacked, Passwords Leaked Dylan Duarte July 12, 2012 Hello and welcome to the July 12th edition of “What Passwords Have Been Rendered Unsecure This Week?”, our weekly feature where we tell you, the reader, which popular website has been hacked this week and what passwords you need to change immediately. No, this isn’t an actual feature, but it probably could be with the amount of hacking catastrophes we’ve seen recently. The latest victim is Yahoo and the company has officially confirmed that around 400,000 email addresses and passwords were leaked online. Sucuri Malware Labs will let you check if your email was part of the leak. It’s not exclusive to Yahoo email addresses, either. Go to Sucuri Malware Labs and check all of your email addresses, just to be safe. For a terrifying example, my Gmail account was compromised. Yahoo has since apologized for the attack, claimed that the information leaked came from an older file and that less than five percent of the passwords are actually valid, and that they’re currently working to secure the vulnerability that allowed the attack. They’re currently working on it, as in it hasn’t been fixed yet. Let’s hope they can patch it up faster than Sony did with their leak. via TechCrunch Share This With The World!
