Given how hard Microsoft (and Sony, for that matter) has been pushing the Xbox 360 as a multimedia device, this new development isn’t really all that surprising: the average household now spends 84 hours per month on Xbox Live, and the majority of that time is spent watching video or listening to music. And that number is up 30% from a year ago. By comparison, the average household watches around 150 hours of television a month, so while the Xbox 360 is making a sizable dent, it’s a ways from replacing TV entirely.

I couldn’t be happier about the way the media world is shifting towards accessibility. Streaming services, especially Video-On-Demand, has been bringing so much content to our fingertips, it’s amazing. You want to know how to combat piracy? Make things easier to acquire legally.
