Track Your Stuff With Pixie Points Beth Snyder March 10, 2015 News Don’t you hate it when you lose your stuff? I once spent a good 20 minutes tearing my house apart trying to find my keys… which were sitting on a different table than where I usually leave them. There is a large number of tracking devices on the market, but Pixie Points caught my eye because it offers something different from all the rest. Much like all the other trackers, you affix a Pixie Point to each item you wish to track, whether that’s your phone, your keys, your dog, or your briefcase. That’s where the similarity ends. Pixie Points uses your phone’s camera to find your lost item, kind of like one of those hidden pictures puzzles. Just point your phone around, and the “pixified” object will show up marked with an X so you know just where to look. It works within a 30 – 150 ft (10 – 45 m) range, allowing you to find pretty much anything in your house or yard. If a pixified item goes beyond the range, you’ll be alerted to its last known location. In addition to finding lost items, Pixie Points allows you to make a customized list to check off items you normally carry. For instance, if you usually carry a tablet, a charger, and your keys, you can put a Pixie Point on each of those items and create a list. Then all you have to do is point your phone at your bag and the checklist will appear, telling you whether or not each of those items is inside. The only drawback is that each item has to be tagged, so you may end up having to buy a large number of them. Check out the video for more details: Each Pixie Point measures 47 x 35 x 3.2 mm (1.8 x 1.3 x 0.1 in), and has a battery life of 18 months. In order to keep the size under control, they’ve opted for non-replaceable batteries, so that’s also something to keep in mind. The accompanying app is free, and works with either iOS or Android. Pixie Points are available for pre-order now for shipping this summer, at three different levels. 1 pack (4 Pixie Points) – $39.95 US, 2 packs (8 Pixie Points) $74.90 US, and 3 packs (12 Pixie Points) $109.85 US.
