The rate at which technology is advancing is astonishing. SanDisk revealed their two new SanDisk Extreme models of SD cards, one at 64GB and the other at 128GB, which is more than half the space of the HDD in my clunky laptop. I feel inadequate. Both cards can transfer data at 45MBps and will retail for $200 and $400, respectively. The cards are available now and, according to SanDisk, are up to the task of capturing 3D video in 1080p HD.

At first glance those prices might seem high, but as someone who’s ventured off into the wilderness with a digital video camera, I can tell you that it’s important to have plenty of space. And with the aforementioned 3D video, bigger storage is quickly becoming a necessity. And with so many high-end cameras being shown off at CES, this is an ideal time to push these cards.
