Those of you who have been biding your time, waiting until the day you can plop down money for a Steam Machine – bide no longer! You can now pre-order a Steam Controller, Steam Link streamer, and two Linux-based gaming PCs. Best of all, you’ll get your hardware almost a month before everyone else.

The Steam Controller is something to behold. It’s designed to emulate a keyboard and mouse with two big circular touchpads. While it may look like nothing you’ve seen before, early reports say that it works pretty well, and Valve may have found the best solution yet to typing with a controller. The Steam Controller retails for $50.

Check out the video below to see the Steam Controller in action, including Valve’s typing solution.

The Steam Link will also run you $50 and is a small set-top-box that will stream games from your PC to a television, with the range reaching across your house if need be using a total of four antennas.

The Alienware Steam Machine starts at $450, runs Steam OS, comes with a Steam Controller, and is more powerful that any console on the market with a dual-core Intel Core i3 processor, GeForce 860M + graphics, and 4GM of RAM. That’s for the starting model. It’s also got an HDMI port so you route your other HD devices through the Alienware box. Those familiar with the Alienware Alpha should recognize the console, because it’s literally the same machine but with a faster hard drive.

As someone who’s in the market for a gaming PC, the Steam Machines look mighty tempting, but being an early adopter can be a little risky, not to mention for a few hundred dollars more I can just get an actual PC that I can use for much more than gaming. I’ll likely wait to see how well they’re received, but I might drop $50 to get my hands on a Steam Controller.
