Never Leave Your Charger Behind Again With Perch Beth Snyder January 7, 2012 If you’re anything like me, some of your chargers remain plugged into the wall at all times, even though we all know that it’s a waste of electricity. But it’s just too convenient to always have my phone charger plugged in next to my bed. This normally isn’t a problem, until you’re packing to go on a trip (or in my case, to go to work for 18-20 hours). Then, because I’m not used to unplugging the charger as well as my phone, sometimes I walk out without it. How I deal with that is to have a second charger that always lives in either my coat pocket or my computer bag, but I don’t like it as well. Perch is not a charger, but rather a nifty little gadget that reminds you to take your charger with you when you unplug your device from it. What it does is “perch” between your charger cord and the wall outlet. When you plug a device into the charger, Perch starts paying attention. When you unplug your device from the charger, Perch will start chirping to remind you the charger is still plugged in. That’s really all there is to it, but it’s so darn simple I can’t believe no one has thought of it before now. This would be handy not just for the instances when you accidentally leave your charger behind, but if you’re trying to be environmentally friendly (while simultaneously cutting down on your electrical bill), it will remind you to unplug your charger so it’s not being a vampire. Basically, you win on all fronts with this device, especially considering it’s supposed to be priced under $10.00 US. I say supposed to be, because Perch isn’t on the market yet. But it’s going to debut at CES (booth #26519), so you can either check it out there or wait for future coverage from someone who does. Source: Ubergizmo Share This With The World!
