Microsoft’s Office Web Apps Becomes Office Online Dylan Duarte February 20, 2014 In the ongoing battle against Google and their online service Google Drive (which we once knew as Google Docs), Microsoft’s Office Web Apps is going through a rebranding in an effort to clear up some confusion. According to Microsoft, the inclusion of the word “apps” in the Office Web Apps gave some users the impression that there was downloading involved. Enter Office Online, a simpler, much clearer name that sums up what the service is all about: it’s Microsoft Office, but online. There are no new features, just a slight overhaul for the sake of pulling in more users. I love Google and Google Drive, but I primarily use Office when I’m working on big projects, so this might become something I use frequently. The convenience of cloud-based storage with the functionality of Word? Yes please. The funny thing is this service has been out for a while, Microsoft is just having trouble getting people to take notice and I suppose I’m one of those people. via The Verge Share This With The World!
