Microsoft Now Allows Bitcoin to Fund Microsoft Accounts Dylan Duarte December 11, 2014 Bitcoin has been around for a while, but up until now it’s felt like a cult currency, if there is such a thing. Not fully accepted by the mainstream yet intensly popular among the loyal few who dabble in it. That seems to be changing as tech giant Microsoft is now using BitPay to let consumers now buy digital content using Bitcoin. The online currency can now be used to fund Microsoft accounts, from which users can purchase games, music, and videos, though not services like Office 365. Bitcoin use through Microsoft is currently limited to the US only and money added through Bitcoin cannot be refunded, but this is certainly a start and a big win for Bitcoin advocates. It’s not yet know if Microsoft plans to expand this new move to other countries. I imagine they’ll wait and see how it all plays out before making that decision. Many believe that Bitcoin is the currency of the future and this move shows that Microsoft is clearly open to that possibility. Now it’s up to Apple and Google to follow suit. via The Verge Share This With The World!
