It’s pretty obvious that Samsung and Apple are the two biggest juggernauts in the smartphone industry right now, but that wasn’t always the case. It used to be HTC, especially back when the company was the OEM/ODM for so many other companies. Remember the Cingular 8125 and the T-Mobile G1? Well, the Taiwanese firm could propel itself back into the conversation with its next flagship if these leaked HTC U 11 specs are to be believed.

Unearthed by the good folks at Gear by MySmartPrice, the HTC U 11 specs above easily place the device on par with other high-end flagships like the Samsung Galaxy S8. It boasts the same Snapdragon 835 processor, along with up to 128GB of storage and up to 6GB of RAM.

Other highlights include the 5.5-inch quad HD display, microSDXC expansion up to 2TB, a fancy 12-megapixel UltraPixel 3 rear camera with OIS, a remarkable 16MB f/2.0 selfie camera with panorama support, dual SIM trays, Bluetooth 5.0, Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0, IP57 certification, and some HTC BoomSound for good measure.

While it likely won’t have a curved screen or a fingerprint sensor hidden behind the display, the HTC U 11 (previously codenamed HTC Ocean) will likely debut the new Edge Sense feature. This lets you “squeeze” the sides of the phone to access certain functions. Weird? Novel? Enough to make you pick this over an LG G6, Samsung Galaxy S8, or Google Pixel 2? Maybe!

HTC should formally announce this phone in a few weeks, so hang tight.
