Kingston Technology Adds HyperX Red and New Look for LoVo James White January 13, 2012 Press Release As with every year at CES you get everything from new products to simple refreshes of old products. For now it would seem Kingston is doing product refreshes with their new HyperX Red Limited Edition and updating HyperX LoVo with a new look. The Kingston HyperX LoVo RAM is just the kind of item you would need for a HTPC build that needs a lot of memory. The LoVo kits will be available in 4 GB and 8 GB dual-channeled kits. The HyperX LoVo will maintain their distinct green color, but will not sport a heatspreader similar to the Kingston Genesis line. There will be be two kits running at 1600 MHz with 1.35V and 1333 MHz with only 1.25V. The 1600 MHz 4 GB kit is expected to be priced at $46.00 and the 8 GB counterpart at $56.00 as the first to be released. The HyperX name brand has become almost synonymous with the color blue especially since blue is Kingston’s primary brand color. Well this year you will be treated to 1333 MHz 1.5V and 1600 MHz 1.65V HyperX memory in a red color. All DDR3 and also available in 4 GB and 8 GB sets, this RAM is expected to be $31.00 for the 4 GB kits and $54.00 for the 8 GB kits with all supporting Intel XMP. I think the HyperX LoVo modules would be a great choice for an HTPC or home server since both tend to run for long periods of time without being turned off. It should help save on that power bill at 1.35V and 1.25V. I am not sure what to make of the HyperX Red Limited Edition. When I first heard the name I thought a major brand would finally support AMD and use the B.E.M.P. (Black Edition Memory Profiles); but no, they are just red.
