Samsung and DirecTV Team Up to Bring You Set-Top Boxless Viewing Dylan Duarte January 13, 2012 Just the other day, Dish Network announced their new DVR hardware, including “Joeys,” set-top boxes designed to let users watch DVR content in multiple rooms in the house. They now have to contend with Samsung and DirecTV, who have one significant advantage – the ability to watch recorded content in multiple rooms without any additional hardware. Samsung’s 2012 line of Smart TVs, announced previously, will allow users to stream recorded shows from their DVRs in any room of the house, all without a box – the functionality is part of the Smart TV. The feature is being called “set-top boxless viewing” and it sounds a lot more convenient than having to hook up more hardware. This new feature will work with DirecTV’s HR34 Home Media Center HD-DVR, while Samsungs Smart TVs will begin shipping this Spring. Let the competition begin! via CNET Share This With The World!
