Kids are monsters. No, that’s not news, you already knew that. The news is this- HP has created a convertible laptop strong enough to survive military use, only it’s designed for the toughest war zone of all – middle school.

The laptop isn’t meant exclusively for middle school, but those are the grades HP’s head of education Gus Schmedlen references, saying that middle school students are just as rough as active duty military members on their laptops. The ProBook x360 Education Edition has supposedly been tested to “military field standards,” and while that isn’t exactly verifiable, it certainly sounds like HP beat the hell out of these things to make sure they’re good and tough. The keyboards can withstand spills of 12 ounces of liquid and the keys are resistant to being picked at.

According to HP, the ProBook x360 is the “thinnest rugged convertible” out there, but it’s still pretty big, which it has to be if it’s going to withstand a lot of punishment. HP plans on selling the laptop directly to schools, which means there’s no individual consumer price, but that doesn’t mean third-party retailers won’t eventually sell them to the public.
