This only makes sense, doesn’t it? The line of wireless speakers from Sonos take on the “Play” moniker, like the PLAY:1 wireless speakers we reviewed a while back and the Sonos PLAYBAR for home theater. Their partnership with Google Play Music was inevitable and now Canadians can join in on the fun.

It was announced yesterday that the Google Play Music service would be expanding north of the 49th parallel after being available in the United States since 2011. There are well over 20 million tracks in the Google Play Music library and you have the option of “merging” this with your existing music library. You simply upload your music files to the cloud and Google will stash up to 20,000 of these tracks for you for free.

That way, you can stream both your own content and what’s available through Google Play Music to any Sonos wireless HiFi speaker you have in your home. I’ve been using my Sonos in tandem with my Seagate Central and WD My Cloud, but this could be an even more convenient solution. You can stream the Play Music tunes to your Sonos speakers via the Google Play Music app or via the Sonos app.

Google Play Music’s “All Access” service works on a subscription basis with a regular monthly fee of $9.99, including a 30-day free trial. If you sign up before June 30, then it’s only $7.99 per month. You can take the a-la-carte path too, if you prefer.
