If you’ve been looking for a very Google-ified experience on your big screen TV, one of your best options has just been taken off the table. The radically round Google Nexus Player has officially been discontinued. Don’t worry. You’ve still got the much more affordable Chromecast if you want something totally official from Google itself.

Announced two years ago, the Nexus Player was manufactured by Asus and it was meant to showcase what was possible with the Android TV platform. This follows the Nexus philosophy, just as the Nexus phones show what an Android phone should be and the Nexus tablets show what an Android tablet should be. The Nexus Player was much the same, except for your living room.

The good news is that while the Nexus Player can no longer be purchased directly from Google itself, third-party retailers like Best Buy and Target haven’t been instructed to send them back just yet. They might even mark them down for clearance; just don’t expect any new stock to come in.

Of course, there are still other products from other companies pursuing the Android TV game, like the remarkably cool NVIDIA Shield set top box. You can just as easily look into an Amazon Fire TV, an Apple TV, a Roku, or any number of other streaming solutions too.
