The smartphone world has been abuzz ever since the LG G5 “modular type” smartphone debuted last month at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The device has been widely honored and praised, not only for the unique “Friends” accessories, but even as just a regular smartphone in its own right. If you’re in Canada and you’re anxious to get your hands on one, the official availability has now been announced too.

Starting on April 8th, you’ll be able to pick up the LG G5 from just about all the major carriers in Canada. This includes not only the big three — Bell, Telus and Rogers — but also several of their subsidiaries like Fido, as well as other carriers like Wind Mobile and regional provides like Eastlink, MTS, SaskTel and Videotron. Just about all the major players want to get in on the LG G5 action. At launch, the phone will also be sold through Best Buy, Tbooth Wireless, The Source, Costco and Wireless Wave.

Official pricing has not yet been revealed, but you probably shouldn’t expect the LG G5 to come cheap. It is a high-end flagship with its Snapdragon 820 and 5.3-inch QHD display, after all. There’s also mention of a special bonus offer “at participating carriers” if you pre-order, so ask your provider of choice for further details.
