So it looks like Apple’s rumored 12.9-inch iPad model is indeed coming, but not quite as soon as everyone might like. Sources say that the company has been placing orders for the oversized tablet for a late 2014 launch. This comes after rumors of a Q1/Q2 launch for the device.

Sources for Digitimes claim that Apple is gearing the new tablet — tentatively dubbed the iPad Maxi — towards education and enterprise and that the original supply will be limited due to difficulties in manufacturing.

Also on the Apple front, the iWatch has supposedly been delayed, but only from first quarter 2014 to second quarter. Apple has enlisted the help of Inventec, Quanta, and Foxconn to manufacture the device, but they don’t yet know how much they want from each supplier.

Apple pushing the new iPad towards education and enterprise makes sense, because I personally think a 12.9-inch device would be too cumbersome for leisure activities.
