It is always good to see large companies take time to support causes with donations, charity funds, and the personal touch. Antec teamed up with Kingston and GIGABYTE to honor a request from young man with Leukemia.

The story is very simple. Jethenro H., a 17 year old student who has been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) has a desire to attend college and pursure a degree in IT or Computer Engineering. There is only one small problem: treatments for any disease are really really expensive. This leaves Jethenro with no cash to build a PC himself. Well, Antec did not think that should stop him getting the experience of building his own system.

Antec with the support of LANFest, Kingston, and GIGABYTE have donated a great mid-range gaming system to give Jethenro the experience of a custom PC he wants and needs. They donated the following parts which I am sure Jethenro will not be using to distract him from his studies.

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-2600k provided by LANFest
  • GPU: GTX 560 Ti provided by Gigabyte
  • Motherboard: Z77X-UD3H provided by Gigabyte
  • RAM: HyperX Blu 8GB (4 x 2GB) DDR3 1333 provided by Kingston
  • SSD: HyperX SH100S3/120GB provided by Kingston
  • Case: Eleven Hundred provided by Antec
  • Power Supply: HCP-750 provided by Antec
  • CPU Cooler: KUHLER H2O 620 provided by Antec

Antec Supports Leukemia Patient with PC-Building Kit Featuring Hardware from LANFest, Kingston, and Gigabyte

“I have undergone 6 months of Chemotherapy and have more than 2 years left, during which many activities such as sports are not recommended. I enjoy computers a lot and have always wanted to build my own computer.”

This is an excerpt from a letter sent to Antec by Jethenro H., a 17 year old student diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL).

In support of his recovery from leukemia and desire to build his own PC, Antec has teamed up with LANFest, Kingston, and Gigabyte to provide Jethenro with a PC-building kit. The specs and hardware providers are as follows:

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-2600k provided by LANFest
  • GPU: GTX 560 Ti provided by Gigabyte
  • Motherboard: Z77X-UD3H provided by Gigabyte
  • RAM: HyperX Blu 8GB (4 x 2GB) DDR3 1333 provided by Kingston
  • SSD: HyperX SH100S3/120GB provided by Kingston
  • Case: Eleven Hundred provided by Antec
  • Power Supply: HCP-750 provided by Antec
  • CPU Cooler: KUHLER H2O 620 provided by Antec

Jethenro has elected to build the system on his own and learn more about PCs in hope of pursuing an IT or Computer Engineering degree. He is currently a student at South Texas College in McAllen, Texas.

“Part of our role in the industry involves passing on our knowledge and passion for building PCs, and it’s great we have the opportunity to do this for Jethenro,” said Nick Pinkerton, Assistant PR Manager for Antec. “We wish him the best with overcoming his leukemia and pursuing his interests.”

After spending three weeks in the hospital through late February and March, Jethenro is back to exercising and enjoying time with his friends & family. He will continue receiving chemotherapy through oral medication and monthly treatment at a cancer clinic.
