Mini Power Battery Offers Charging on the Go Beth Snyder February 13, 2015 It’s a recurring theme, sadly: Devices with dead batteries. I have purchased a number of battery chargers, cables, and spare batteries over the years, as well as using both the IDAPT Modulo and Proporta TurboCharger 7000 on a regular basis. It’s much better now that I traded in my HTC Thunderbolt for a Motorola Droid Turbo, but I still occasionally need a charge when I’m out and about, and it’s not always easy to find a power outlet. Tsung Chih-Hsien developed this concept charger with both mobility and environmental concerns in mind, and it was an idea good enough to win him a Red Dot Design award. He named it the Mini Power Battery, and what it provides is either two, four, or six hours of charging capacity in a tiny, cardboard-enclosed package. Not only is the Mini Power Battery made of recycled materials, it can in turn be recycled once its charging power has been depleted. The idea here was to create something easy to use, easy to carry, and also easily purchased at a corner store, and the Mini Power Battery certainly seems to fit the bill. Their size increases with their capacity, but even the largest one looks like it’s about half the size of a standard flash drive (and considerably thinner). Since this is still a concept piece there is no word on pricing and it’s not currently available. But it wouldn’t surprise me to see these on the market sooner rather than later.
