Xoo Belt Takes Phone Charging to a New Level Beth Snyder November 29, 2014 The more gadgets we own, the more we need to find ways to keep them charged. Manufacturers are getting better at improving battery life, but odds are you’re still going to run low just when you need them. If you regularly carry a bag or purse carrying a portable charger isn’t really that big of a deal, but if you’re the type to go out with just what will fit in your pockets it can be a pain. Xoo Belt aims to fill a niche left by other portable charger companies with their flexible charger that doubles as a belt. Yup… it’s a belt you can wear to hold up your pants as well as a means of charging your phone. Its basic style almost guarantees it’ll fit into any wardrobe, and it comes in various sizes to fit waists from 28″ – 44″ (about 56 – 112 cm). It even has swappable polished zinc buckles to better suit your style, and is made of full-grain tanned leather. How it works is pretty simple. Embedded in the belt are six layers of flexible battery for a base power of 1,300mAh. Each buckle holds 800mAh, for a total of 2,100mAh stored power when you’re wearing the Xoo Belt. When you need to charge your phone, just slip the cable out of its slot on the underside of the belt and plug in your phone. The location of the charging cable makes it easy to keep your phone in your pocket while charging (although depending on where the port is on your phone that might be awkward… it’ll work best for phones that charge through their bottom edge). When your phone is charged, just tuck the cable back into the belt and go on with your life. The Xoo Belt holds enough power to fully charge an iPhone 6 in about three hours, takes about three hours to charge itself, and is compatible with iOS, Android and Windows. It ships with a microUSB-to-USB charging cable with an option to add a Lightning connector as well. There are LEDs embedded in the upper side of each buckle so you always know how much power you have remaining. Check out the video to see how the Xoo Belt works: Xoo Belt is currently seeking funding on Indiegogo, where a pledge of at least $125.00 US will get you a classic belt and buckle. Assuming they reach their funding goal (and they’re almost there with about three weeks left), shipping is projected to take place in July 2015. Share This With The World!
