Top Microsoft Investors Want Gates Gone Dylan Duarte October 1, 2013 Extras We all know that Steve Ballmer is stepping down and Microsoft is currently on the hunt for a new CEO, but should they be looking for a new chairman as well? Three of Microsoft’s top twenty investors are calling for chairman and founder Bill Gates to step down as well, citing his presence as a hindrance to moving forward. The three investors believe that Gates’ involvement will prevent the company from adopting new strategies and, more specifically, prevent the new CEO from making any substantial changes that they feel need to be made. They also feel that Gates has prioritized his philanthropic efforts, which does seem to be true, and that he shouldn’t hold as much sway at the company as he once did. What do you think?
