The Wait Is Over: Marty McFly’s Power Laces Are Coming Beth Snyder February 17, 2014 There were a lot of things I really wanted when I saw Back to the Future (I think it goes without saying that a flux capacitor would make everyone’s list), but one of the coolest was the power laces on Marty’s shoes. That’s even pretty attainable, all things considered. But no one has ever made them so, to my dismay. Until now. Well, not now exactly, but soon. Nike designer Tinker Hatfield has pretty definitely stated we’ll be seeing them in 2015. Which makes no end of sense if you think about it… that’s the year Marty was from, after all. My hopes for that flux capacitor have been given new life! There are no details yet, and this wasn’t exactly an official announcement from Nike, but Hatfield sounded pretty definite about it. And really, that’s all you need to foster a dream. I’m sure they won’t be cheap, but can you put a price on realizing a dream?
