ASUS gives their Cine5 compact five channel speaker bar more officialness today and the buzz has been good as evident by the posts popping up at Crunchgear and Slashgear. It is a rather cool gadget for your desktop audio needs.

Futurelooks covered this product in person way back at CES 2010. Yes, I was there and I even talked to Ives Chiu, one of ASUS’ audio gurus from Taiwan about it. Our interview revealed far more than the official press release was able to give us like a perhaps a potential price point for this very interesting piece of desktop bling. Check out the video after the break…

As the video reveals, the Cine5 is actually a well thought out piece of audio engineering. It has elements of high end audio design and audio quality to match. This isn’t surprising considering ASUS has been very aggressive in getting people to see them for quality audio products. Their ASUS Essence STX headphone audiophile sound card speaks to this.

The Cine5’s compact nature also makes it practical for bringing better quality audio to tight spaces. I was quite impressed with the audio quality at the time as it really did give convincing 5.1 channel effects from a very compact enclosure.

A price point of $129.00 was thrown out there, but obviously in a joking sort of way. However, if the finished product is as good as it seems to be in the video, that wouldn’t be such a bad deal. What do you folks think?
