Sound-Absorbing Lamp is a Reader’s Dream Come True Beth Snyder April 16, 2013 One of the discussions that happens in my house on a regular basis is the volume of the television. To me, it is so loud it drills into my skull and does not allow me to concentrate on anything else, which is how I end up spending a lot of time playing Farmville when I’m home…the TV is pretty much never off at my house unless I am here alone. I would much prefer to stick my nose in a book and forget about the world around me, but others in the house prefer television to keep themselves amused. I’ve tried ear plugs, but that really is fairly rude even if it is effective. But how cool would it be if I could have a reading lamp that also helps dampen the noise around me? Looks like I can. Silenzio lamps are constructed of sound-absorbing foam and fabrics designed specifically to minimize ambient noise while also providing a light source. They come in a bunch of colours, so they should fit into darn near any decor you can think of. You can choose between a hanging lamp or a wall-mounted lamp (the hanging lamp is the round one shown above, while the wall-mounted is a rectangle or square shape), and they also appear to come in a variety of sizes. I’d go for the biggest suspended lamp they have, and mount it directly over my chair, hanging down within six inches of my head. OK, maybe not so practical for a lighting use, but it should allow for maximum sound blocking. What I can’t seem to find is pricing or availability. I assume they exist, but that’s about all I’ve got. Usually that means I can’t afford one, but I would really like to try one out at some point…if it works, it would be well worth saving money to buy. Source: Ubergizmo Share This With The World!
