You’re familiar with SodaStream, the contraption that brews soda from drink mixes and seltzer water? It’s like having a McDonald’s soda fountain of your very own, and it dispenses equally disappointing soda. Seriously, *comedian voice* what’s the deal with McDonald’s Coca-Cola? On an actual serious note: you know what would make the SodaStream better? Booze. Booze is supposed to taste bad, anyway.

It’s no surprise that as soon as SodaStream showed up on the market, people started trying to make booze with it. Some were successful, while others weren’t. Thankfully the folks at SodaStream decided to make the whole process easier by just doing it for you. Introducing Sparkling Gold drink mix, which lets you pretty literally turn water into wine (champagne), just that like that famous guy whose name I can’t recall.

The recipe calls for one part Sparking Gold and five parts sparkling water, but I bet we could get real messed up if we flipped that ratio. We might not get an opportunity, though, and if we do it won’t be for a while. The Sparkling Gold mix will only be available from SodaStream’s online shop in Germany. However, like so many region-specific deals, if it does well in its initial market, there’s a good chance the company will expand to others. So I call on my German friends to fill up their steins with weird, watered-down “wine” in hopes that they’ll send this stuff stateside.
