Snoring Spouse? Try a Nudging Pillow Beth Snyder February 14, 2014 We’ve all had one. That spouse, roommate, friend…someone we know well enough to have slept in the same room with even if not the same bed…who snores. Sometimes they’re cute little ladylike puffs of air with a little sigh, and sometimes it sounds like someone is hacking into the room with a chainsaw big enough to take down a California redwood. There are as many ways to deal with it as there are people who listen to other people snore, but not all of them work. Most of them don’t work, actually. Maybe this will? This is the Snore Activated Nudge Pillow, and it does pretty much what you would assume from its name: When the person using it snores, the pillow nudges them to change position slightly, which can often stop the snoring. Heck, if it works even half the time, it’s impossible to tell how many hours of sleep that will save the suffering person next to them! What you’ve got here is a microphone to pick up on the snoring. That then triggers an internal mechanism to inflate the pillow, which in turn should cause the snorer to change position enough to knock off the horrific noise. The microphone’s sensitivity can be adjusted, as well as how much the pillow will inflate, so it’s sort-of customizable to meet the needs of anyone who snores. Well, the needs of the person who is lying there awake because of the godawful racket, really. It’s even shaped like doctors say a pillow should be to provide proper support for your neck while sleeping. It’s not cheap at $150.00 US, but can you really put a price tag on a good night’s rest, uninterrupted by the ratcheting night sounds of your sleeping partner?
