SFANS Adapter: The Smallest Nintendo Switch Dock Around Michael Kwan July 5, 2017 News A few days after I got my Nintendo Switch, I brought it over to my in-laws’ place. It seemed like a good idea as I unpacked the console from my bag and suggested we play a little Mario Kart. My brother-in-law then said, “We can connect it to the TV, right?” I replied, “No, because I didn’t bring the dock.” And then there were sad faces all around. The thing is that packing up the official Nintendo Switch dock can be a bit of a hassle. It’s hardly compact and it’s hardly convenient. There has to be a better way. And now there is, in the form of the SFANS Adapter. In effect, the SFANS Adapter shrinks down all the necessary components of the Nintendo Switch dock into a dongle that’s about half the size of a typical smartphone. The permanently attached USB-C connector plugs into your Switch, and then you connect another USB-C cable for power and the HDMI cable to output to your big screen TV in glorious full HD 1080p. It’s so simple, it’s brilliant. They’ve even styled the little adapter like the doggy-faced Joy-Con controller grip. The dongle itself also comes with an extra ports compared to the official dock. You’ll find two USB-C ports, plus two USB-A (USB 3.1) ports. This way, you can easily connect other accessories and wired controllers. You can even use it to charge your devices. All I need now is the new fightstick from HORI and I’ve got the perfect setup for some Ultra Street Fighter II on the big screen. The early bird funding level is sold out, but you can still get one for $79 USD, plus shipping, with delivery expected some time next month. Share This With The World!
