Solid state drives are where it’s at when it comes to data storage. Without all the moving parts of traditional hard drives, they last a hell of a lot longer. Plus they’re blazingly fast. Best of all, you don’t have to hear that horrible grinding noise the hard drive makes every time you download something on that computer you got over a decade ago and should have replaced by now, Dylan. Whoops, got off track. Onto the SSD T5.

The only issue with SSDs right now is the cost, but high prices are common for new technology. They are getting cheaper, however, as evidenced by Samsung’s new drive. Their new Portable SSD T5 can go as fast as 540MBps, which is up to par with the company’s SATA SSDs. It’s also protected by AES 256-bit hardware encryption. And it’s roughly the size of a credit card, which is impressive.

The drive comes in four sizes and two colors. The “Alluring Blue” drives are 250 and 500GB, while the “Deep Black” drives will be 1 and 2TB. The 250GB model is only $129.99, which isn’t bad at all. However, the prices rises exponentially for the bigger sizes, so the biggest model, the 2TB, starts at $799.99.
