Roku Launches Three New Streaming Boxes

Roku today announced three new streaming boxes to cover those looking for a simple, inexpensive way to stream, those sitting on the cutting edge of technology, and everybody in-between. Meet the Roku Express, the Roku Premiere, and the Roku Ultra. With these new boxes and the new VMedia Live TV Streaming, cord-cutters grow ever-more-powerful.

The Roku Express is their smallest box ever and, at just $29.99, is Roku’s closest thing to a Chromecast alternative. It supports 1080p HD streaming over HDMI, but for folks with older TVs there’s the Roku Express+ for $39.99 that also supports A/V cables.

The Roku Premiere, $79.99, works with HD and 4K UHD TVs, offers 4K UHD playback, is capable of up to 60 fps 4K UHD, offers upscaling, has a quad-core processor, and features “night listening mode” which adjusts the volume to maintain consistency. The Roku Premiere+, $99.99, features HDR support, a “point anywhere” remote with headphone jack, a MicroSD card slot for channel storage, and an Ethernet port for those who want a wired connection.

Finally there’s the Roku Ultra, which for $129.99 gets you everything that the Roku Premiere gets you plus dolby digital, optical digital audio out port for connecting a sound bar, USB port for playing local media, voice search-capable remote control, and a remote finder for when you lose your remote.

All players except for the Roku Express+ are available for pre-order now through Roku.com, Best Buy Wal-Mart, Amazon, and other retailers and are expected to be on store shelves on October 9th. The Roku Express+ will be available exclusively through Wal-Mart.
