Oops! Nexus 5 Briefly Appears on Google Play Store Dylan Duarte October 17, 2013 There are leaks and then there are leaks; this one is of the latter, italicized variety. The upcoming Nexus 5 smartphone has appeared on the Google Play store. There are no details on the entry, nor can it be bought, but it does list a price tag of $349 for the 16GB version. That’s the same price that the 16GB Nexus 4 debuted at, and while the Nexus 4 was also available in a $299 8GB model, $349 seems more than fair for the new Nexus 5. Unsurprisingly, the listing has since been taken down, but a quick-on-the-draw Verge reader was able to grab a screenshot before that happened. The screenshot tells us a few things: it confirms the Android UI tweaks that had leaked earlier, Android 4.4 KitKat uses some translucency effects in its aesthetic design, and some applications are sporting different icons. Expect an official Google announcement in the near future, likely before month’s end. Share This With The World!
