One Handed Keyboard for iPhone 6 Plus Pushes to Either Side Michael Kwan October 7, 2014 The first reaction that most people have to the iPhone 6 Plus is that it’s huge. Having the bigger screen is great for surfing the web or watching videos, but it might not be so great for typing out text messages with one hand. Offering a straightforward solution to this conundrum is the One Handed Keyboard app by developer Terry Demco. As you can probably guess, One Handed Keyboard is designed to make the iPhone (particularly the iPhone 6 Plus) a little easier to use with one hand. It does this by shrinking the on-screen QWERTY keyboard and pushing it to one side. This is similar to what Samsung did with the dialer on the Galaxy Note II a couple of years ago. The One Handed Keyboard can be pushed to the left or the right, depending on which hand you want to use, and you can customize the color of the keyboard too. While this may sound like a pretty decent idea in theory, it may not be quite so useful in practice. That’s the experience that Leslie Horn of Gizmodo had when she tried it out. The problem is that it’s still hard balancing a 5.5-inch phone with one hand. In any case, you can get One Handed Keyboard via the App Store for 99 cents. While iPhone 6 Plus owners will likely find the greatest utility out of this app, it has also been optimized for the iPhone 5 and iPhone 6 and should be compatible with most iPhone, iPad and iPod touch models running iOS 8.0 or later.
