Nintendo Shutting Down Wii/DS Online Multiplayer in May Dylan Duarte February 27, 2014 Do you guys remember when Nintendo had a hit console that was raking in ludicrous amounts of money? If you’re one of the many who opted to not upgrade to a Wii-U and instead still cherish and play your Wii (or your Nintendo DS regularly), you may be in for some bad news. On May 20th, Nintendo will be shutting down its Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service, disabling online multiplayer on the Wii and DS. This shouldn’t apply to the current 3DS, which uses Nintendo Network instead of Wi-Fi Connection. The online store and various apps like Hulu and Netflix won’t be affected, and games that lose their online multiplayer component will of course retain all of their offline features. Nintendo isn’t exactly known for their killer online service, but it’s still sad to see it go, especially for those who still use it. Via The Verge Share This With The World!
