NewerTech’s Power2U Wall Outlet with Integrated USB Ports

File this under the “why didn’t anyone think of this sooner?” category. Tech company New Technology, Inc. has revealed their new Power2U product which, pictured up above, is an installable wall outlet that features two USB ports in addition to the standard power sockets. The idea behind the device is to eliminate the need for bulky adapters, which I would imagine it does fairly well. And with more USB-equipped tech integrating into the consumer world everyday, Power2U couldn’t have come at a better time.

Each USB port is guarded by a spring-loaded safety shutter that isn’t pictured in the image above. When the cable is removed and the shutters are closed, power is shut off to the ports. And the intelligent Smart Power design only outputs enough power to charge the currently plugged-in device.
