New Microsoft Modern Keyboard with Hidden Fingerprint Reader Michael Kwan June 16, 2017 News Okay. So, this is pretty cool. Remember how we used to think that Microsoft was this stuffy and boring company, filled with generic beige boxes and Office productivity suites? They can still be that, but the whole Surface line is a clear indication that they’ve improved leaps and bounds in the design department. Adding to that are the new Microsoft Modern Keyboard and the Microsoft Modern Mouse. Great, another keyboard and mouse combination. Big deal, right? As it turns out, this new keyboard has an integrated fingerprint sensor that you can’t even see. It’s integrated into one of the keys on the chiclet keyboard and it is fully compatible with Windows Hello fingerprint authentication. Go ahead and log into your Windows 10 device simply by tapping the key between Alt and Ctrl to the right of the space bar. It’s pretty slick. The keyboard itself uses an aluminum frame, making it “virtually indestructible” according to Microsoft. You can connect it via a cable or you can go wireless with Bluetooth 4.0. That’s up to you. You can even use this keyboard with Android and macOS if you want, but Microsoft would naturally much prefer if you got a Surface Pro or Surface Studio or something to go with it. The Microsoft Modern Mouse gets a rounded styling with buttons that are almost invisible. There’s a scroll wheel in between and it also connects via Bluetooth 4.0. This mouse with “exceptional precision” is powered by a couple of AAA batteries. These products are certainly a far cry from the days of the beige or black ergonomic keyboard from Microsoft… though there are some hardcore enthusiasts out there who still yearn for the typing experience on those dual angled beasts. The Microsoft Modern Keyboard and Modern Mouse are “coming soon” for $130 and $50, respectively. Share This With The World!
