National Wear Red Day Beth Snyder February 4, 2011 OK, so this is technically US only, but really, it’s something that shouldn’t follow borders. Today is the day to wear red to promote awareness of women’s cardiac health. Many people are not aware that heart disease is among the top killers of women. Much like wearing pink to promote awareness of breast cancer, this day was started by the National Heart Association in an effort to save women’s lives. If you’re a woman, especially over the age of 40, talk to your doctor about a stress test if you haven’t already gotten one, as well as anything else that might relate to the health of your heart.
